'LIVE EVENT BLOG' TALLY: DAY 2

*
Here is yesterday's tally of the number of posts on the BBC's live election blog that report comments from party politicians:

Thursday 8/4
*
Labour - 37
Conservatives - 20
Lib Dems - 9
Plaid Cymru - 3
SNP - 2
Greens - 1
DUP - 1
*
So Labour got almost twice as many as the Conservatives!
*
*
As well as a daily total I'll be keeping a running total for the whole campaign. Here are how things stand after 2 days:
*
Labour - 63
Conservatives - 30
Lib Dems - 27
SNP - 3
Plaid Cymru - 3
Greens - 1
UKIP - 1
DUP - 1
*
As you can see, so far Labour has received as many posts as the Conservatives, Lib Dems, SNP, Greens, UKIP and DUP put together!!!!
*
Jaw-dropping, isn't it? Not even I thought they'd be so blatant about it.
*
How can the Conservatives not act on this? So far only a 'thank you, we've passed it on to the team' e-mail has come back about this, but it's early days...Still, they need to act very quickly, or it will soon be too late. (Their e-mail webpage, should you wish to send them your thoughts, is here: http://www.conservatives.com/Information/Contact_Us.aspx.)

I've been shaking my head all the time that I've been counting and writing this post. I hope either my head learns to control itself or, even better, that the BBC's bias here either slackens or stops, or else I might be at risk of having it drop off!

  1. I have had a reply from Ric Bailey, the BBC's top man on politics regarding this partisanship this morning. An email from him to the editorial team should have some cut through. What will be interesting is the response from the BBC mandarins.

    Dear Mr ...

Thank you for your emails. I have passed them to those who have editorial responsibility in this area and you will receive a reply when they have had a chance to look at them in detail.

    Regards
    Ric Bailey

  2. Yes, there'll need to "have a chance to look at them in detail". I can't think how they can defend these figures. They'll really have to rack their brains if they want to try!!

  3. Craig, I expect a reply on 7th May :)

  4. That sounds about right!

Then again they might have all Martin's complaints to get through too!! He'll keep them busy!!

Seriously, I bet they are inundated at the moment. The scale of the bias is beyond belief, even for seasoned bias-watchers like us.

  5. BBC says: "London Mayor Boris Johnson has once again strayed from Tory policy. Chatting to Chelsea pensioners with David Cameron, Mr Johnson said the flagship policy of a National Citizen Service should be compulsory, rather than voluntary, the BBC's Carole Walker says." on the Live Labour Propaganda blog

while Paul Waugh, Evening Standard deputy political editor says

"Can't believe BBC claiming Boris quip re 'compulsory volunteering' was serious. I was there and it was clearly a joke. Clue is in the phrase" -- http://twitter.com/paulwaugh/status/11877349396
